HOW TO MAKE MEXICAN ATOLE – Corn Masa Drink


I loved this Mexican Drink called Atole which I had almost daily whilst in Oaxaca, Mexico. You just have to try it it’s delicious.

How to make Mexican Atole
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 3-5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 a cup of Masa Flour
  • 3 cups of Water
  • 4 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup of Milk
  • A Cinnamon Stick

Instructions

  1. Place the masa flour into a saucepan and add about 1 cup of the water, whisk to form a smooth paste. Add the sugar, Vanilla, Milk and the rest of the water and whisk until nice and smooth. Drop in the cinnamon stick.
  2. Place the saucepan onto the heat and bring up to the boil, Simmer gently, stirring all the time until the Atole thickens. Remove from the heat and pour into a jug or straight into your mugs and serve. Enjoy!!!
