Subscriber, Calo Mackinnon commented on my Golden Syrup Recipe that he loved Treacle scones, so after making my Homemade Dark Treacle I had to make them.
These are my Favourite Scones at the moment, they are just heavenly with that Dark Treacle Flavour running throughout.
Heaped with fresh cream and drizzled with more treacle they are perfect to give to someone you love this Valentines Day.

- Place the flour, baking powder, spices and sugar into a bowl and stir together.
Add the softened butter and using your fingertips, rub together until you have a breadcrumb like texture.
Pour in the treacle and cut through the dry ingredients. Now add most of the milk, keep a little back (only add if the mixture feels too dry) and gently mix into the mixture until you have a soft dough.
- On a lightly floured countertop, press the dough flat and smooth. You will want it to be about an inch / 2.5cm thick.
Use a cookie cutter to cut out the dough (I used a heart shaped cookie cutter but you can of course use a round one).
Place the scones onto a lined baking tray.
- Bake in a preheated oven 200C / 400F for 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven when baked and place onto a cooling rack to cool.
Once cool break in half, fill with fresh cream and drizzle with treacle. Pop on the lid and dust with powdered sugar.
Now dig in and enjoy that gorgeous Treacle Scone!
