Valentine Love Cookies – Simplified Lebkuchenherzen


Lebkuchen or Love Cookies are a delightful honey spiced Gingerbread cookie from Germany. Not traditionally a Valentine Treat but who could resist making these for a loved one on Valentines Day.

My Love Cookies are based on that Traditional Lebkuchenherzen, Simplified so that everyone can make them.

You will Need

100g / 3.5oz of Salted Butter
275g / 10oz of Honey
100g / 3.5oz of Sugar
2 ½ Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder
1 ½ Tablespoon of Mixed Spice / Pumpkin Spice
600g / 1lb 5oz of All Purpose or Plain Flour
1 ½ Teaspoon of Baking Powder
¼ Teaspoon of Salt
1 egg

Bake at 160’C / 325’F for 15 minutes
